SCREENINGS & SERIES

We've created a group of film series that will encourage an expansion of how we understand this film.

LEFT UNSAID
An examination of the power of silence, use of music, absence of dialogue in films.

1968
2001: ASO is a product of its time. The 1960's were a turbulent time of re-drawing boundary lines.

70MM
The use of big film (70mm vs. 35mm) doesn't always lead to a big movie. How does a larger negative give room for greater depth of character, intimacy, mystery and poetics?

FULL SPECTRUM
Kubrick disavowed Spartacus, not having had complete control over many parts of that film. So, we would argue that 2001: ASO is his first color feature. Let's look at other directors and their first foray into the use of the Full Spectrum.

RATED G
This Gentle Giant letter grade should be reserved for those films that tell the Greatest of stories; the stories that should be told to all, at all points in life, forever.

THE DUEL
An age old form of marking territory and power. Duels are instant drama: two opposing forces butting heads. But, there is sophistication to dueling. It is violence refined, measured, directed.

UNCHARTED TERRITORY
This film series will track cinematic attempts to show what is beyond our known world and dig into 3 Eternal Questions: Who am I? Where am I? How did I get here?
