Through A Different Lens: Stanley Kubrick Photographs

  • Museum of the City of New York (map)

Before he became the revolutionary director, Kubrick was developing his eye through photography- a passion he developed as a teenager and took through his early adulthood years.  Through his early photographic work we can see how he developed his eye for framing, and how he captured people from a distance.  Was this to get the whole story behind the person?  Or did he feel removed?

Decide for yourself at the wonderful exhibition hosted by the historic Museum of City of New York celebrating the early photographic career of Stanley Kubrick.  This exhibit displays photos taken for Look magazine where he sold his first photo in 1945 as well as others that have been unseen for decades.
